New Year in Pentre Bach House

Wilma and mike greeted us and gave us all the information we needed for our stay, along with cake and mulled wine. Our party ranged in age from 7 months to 85 years old and we all had a fantastic time. There is plenty of room to spend together and apart! The grounds are great for dogs too. Very clean and well maintained we would all love to come again, thank you Wilma and Mike

Lovely little cottage with an amazing garden looking out over the sea

My sister & I used Y Llaethdy as a base for walking in the local area, & you really are spoiled for choice with beautiful walks around here....mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls & the ocean all close by. We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely little cottage - it is small but perfectly formed, just the right size for 2 or 3 people & the garden sloping gently towards the sea in the distance is a peaceful place to just sit & breathe it all in... We were very lucky to have a weekend of beautiful weather to explore the area, including a climb up Cadair Idris (it's a tough one, but the views are so worth it :) & a trip to Portmerion which is such a magical place & well worth a visit. We would love to come back soon!

Absolutely amazing, so much so, we'e already booked to go back!

Where to start? The accommodation at Pentre Bach is amazing, it is the best appointed self catering property that I have ever stayed in. It has quality kitchen utensils/crockery so if you did want to cook, bake etc then you have virtually everything that you need. The information given, and available about local attractions is immense. Recommendations are made for local restaurants, cafes, etc. The properties are surrounded by natural beauty with a fantastic coastal location (the very quiet coastal railway runs just past the bottom of the garden, then there is the sea), views of the Cader Idris, and unbelievable sunsets. We stayed in Y Popty, which was wonderful, although the description doesn't mention it you can see the sea from the kitchen window. Beautifully appointed, very cosy and homely. Mike and Wilma made us feel extremely welcome, they're so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Within short walking distance to the local train station, where you can easily get along the coast to Barmouth. You can also drive to a number of other spots and then walk in over the 150 year old bridge, which is a beautiful walk in itself. The people in the area are so friendly, it's hard not to fall in love with it. Look forward to going back in 2020, if not before :)

Gorgeous House & Great Stay

We had the best time when we stayed here for the weekend in September. We all agreed that this has got to be the best place we’ve stayed in! The house is just lovely, full of character & so well equipped. Fresh flowers on arrival too, a lovely touch. We loved the huge dining room where it was great to all sit and eat together. We were lucky enough to have picked a great weekend for the weather & enjoyed a bbq one night too. We sat outside & watched the sunset over the sea from the spacious garden, simply stunning. We would definitely stay here again & without doubt would recommend to others. Any questions we asked prior to our visit were answered promptly by Wilma & Mike. Thanks so much for the most enjoyable stay!

Fabulous house

Service from Mike and Wilma from the very start of the booking process was excellent. They answered any queries quickly and politely. It's difficult to find large houses that will accept groups of friends staying, so thank you for trusting us! The house and gardens are lovely and the view out to the sea is stunning. House is well equipped with everything you need, and Wilma gave us a helpful tour at the start to give us some tips about the house. The 3pm late check out option for an extra £100 was so helpful and definitely worth the extra. The walk down to the beach is beautiful and on 1 of the days we took the 20 minute train to Barmouth along the coast which was amazing, particularly on the way back with the sun setting!

Dream home!

Myself and 7 friends booked this for a weekend to go hiking in Snowdonia. Mike was very helpful and welcoming offering advice on nearby hikes (although with the conditions we stayed with a route I was familiar with in the end!) The house is just perfect, the sort of home most people dream about owning, huge comfortable living and dining room, well equipped kitchen a large garden with sea views. Everything was spotless, the beds were comfortable (I don't mind a slightly firm mattress) and a good night's sleep is all but guaranteed here. Not one of our group of 8 would hesitate to recommend or revisit here!

Perfect venue for large group

Our group of twenty-one go away together for new year every year. We really appreciated the flexibility of booking all three properties at Pentre Bach. The large kitchen, dining room and lounge of the main house made it easy for us to spend time together. There was plenty to do in the area even at this time of year and we all had a great week.

Wonderful stay in North Wales

Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend in North Wales. We have an annual reunion of 9 couples, and this has to rank as the top accommodation that I’ve booked so far! The house is in a great location, well appointed and steeped in history. It is perfectly suited to large groups, with large dining room, lovely big sitting room with log fire and plenty of parking. The owners were very helpful and communicative during the booking process, and we’re contactable if any problems had arisen (which wasn’t needed) An excellent property, well deserving of a full five star review!!

Perfect Weekend break for family get together

Spent a perfect weekend for a family get together at the beginning of May 17. There were 8 Adults and 7 young children. Everything from start to finish was perfect (even the weather!!) Pentre back main house was just brilliant and we also booked Y POPTY which had an adjoining door into the large kitchen which made the place feel even larger! Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the bedrooms were fantastic, some with brilliant views and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need to self cater. Bathrooms have lovely soft white towels :) We made the best of the lovely weather and played Rounders every night watching the beautiful sunsets. Loads of books to read to suit everyone and plenty of games to play if the weather is not great. The cottages are within 10 minutes of lovely sandy beaches and Barmouth is around a 15 minute drive which is a small seaside town. The kids loved the Arcade! The area is a haven for walkers, bikers and there is fishing nearby. Asda deliver in the area which we took full advantage of. Would definitely recommend these cottages, Wilma and Mike provided loads of useful information prior to our visit and welcomed us on arrival.

Perfect family vacation

We booked Pentre Bach for friends and family to celebrate our daughters birthday. It was perfect and suited all our needs with the added bonus that dogs are made very welcome. The house and cottages are comfortable and well decorated with lots of room for big gatherings or to find a wee corner to relax. The gardens are great for a bbq with stunning views of the coast. We would definitely stay again, top class accommodation.

Ideal house and garden for a large family group in a wonderful setting with sea view.

Pentre Bach Cottages and the garden were excellent for our family group of 12 adults and 11 children (aged 1 - 9). There is ample accommodation and equipment offering plenty of opportunities for the group to be together or to split up for smaller activities. The children thoroughly enjoyed playing in the garden and the private field and the adults appreciated the chance to watch the sun setting over the sea from the comfort of the house or the garden. It was great to be able to walk to the beach through the small village and at the same time admire the ingenuity and skills of the "yarn bombers" (local residents make and display knitted or crocheted characters or decorations). We will hopefully visit again. Thank you Mike and Wilma.

Fantastic little cottage with beautiful surroundings

Fantastic stay from start to finish. Mike and Wilma were quick to respond to all of our emails/messages leading up to the holiday. Wilma was there to greet us and show us round on our arrival and answer any questions we had. The cottage we stayed in i think was called the Dairy, such a beautiful little quaint cottage with everything you could possibly need! It had a lovely conservatory with a fantastic view of the sea to sit and watch the sunset from, which i loved. The garden surrounding the cottage was lovely to sit in and watch the squirrels collecting their food! We took our 13 year old son who was able to play football in the field next to our place which was fab for him. The cottage has a large room upstairs with a double bed, small sofa, armchair and tv if you wanted to sit and relax.(Also plenty of room for a cot if you had little ones) Lots of dvds to choose from! (The bedroom downstairs is a single room with a single bed and wardrobe, it was perfect size for our teenage son. The kitchen had all amenities, microwave, washing machine, cooker, even had tea and coffee left out for us when we arrived! In the conservatory there is a book from Mike and Wilma, definitely worth a read as it is full of great places to visit. We took a couple of the recommended trips and were not disappointed, one was the Cregennen lakes which were stunning! and the other was the train ride and ferry to Barmouth. The book was a great help in choosing where to go. There was also lots of other things to keep us entertained after the sun went down, cards and jigsaws. We went to the local pub (cant remember the name?) which is a five minute walk from our place and had a lovely meal! All the staff were friendly and welcoming, food was quick to be served and the helpings were huge! Just a fantastic stay all round from start to finish. Everything about it was brill. Mike and Wilma have really everything and more to ensure we felt at home and enjoyed our stay! Thank you so much. We will be back for sure!! Ooh also the added bonus of seeing all the lovely knittings locals had done and displayed around the village! Fantastic, will post a few pics! :)

Our favourite place to stay

I cannot find a word to describe how perfect our stay was at this house. I had booked it short notice as a surprise for my friend’s birthday. The photos do not do this place justice. The house was immaculate, spacious and welcoming. Mike and Wilma were nothing but helpful in providing information to me to make this weekend as social as I could and making our stay as enjoyable as possible (and many thanks to Nelly the dog for the extra cute factor!?)To say the kitchen was "well equipped" would be an understatement. The bedrooms are enormous. Just a home away from home (or even better!) We even got our own sunset! Thank you Wilma and Mike....we will be back!

The cottage is an absolute gem

Bought my mom and sister here for a short break in August and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage is an absolute gem with accommodation that suited us exactly. The conservatory was a delightful place to relax, talk, enjoy meals and just admire the stunning views. We travelled by train (the station is within easy walking distance ) to Porthmadog, Harlech and Barmouth. Next time will try Aberdovey and Aberystwyth again easy to reach by train. Mike and Wilma (owners ) were as always friendly and welcoming. I have stayed in the big house and loved it there too. I would highly recommended a this cottage and can't wait to return.

Heaven at the earth.

First time you travel to a random place which name you are even unable to pronounce. After that you fell in love with this place, a cottage and a view. Every other time you come back there to make balance in your life right, to absorb the tranquility like a sponge and remind yourself what happiness means. We look forward to seeing you again soon as we loved this place already. It is a real heaven at the earth.
